  1. Our Services

1.1 Saddle Fitting Services

When you book a saddle fitting with S&D Saddles, you enter into a contract directly with your assigned fitter.
All our fitters are:

  • Self-employed and SMS-qualified,

Your fitter will assess your current saddle and provide professional advice regarding fit, comfort, and suitability based on your horse’s current shape, condition, and level of fitness.

Please note we will not attend any saddle fitting that a previous SMS Qualifed saddle fitter has been to in the last 6 months. This is a strict code of conduct put in place by the Society of Master Saddlers that we adhere to.

– Before we attend the appointment we must be made aware of any behavioural issues or transmissible equine illnesss.
– After sale of new saddle within first 3 months saddle may need to be checked and re balanced.
– At the appointment – hard standing for horse assessment, suitable area for horse to be assessed when ridden under saddle must be available
 – Please allow 30 mins either side of appointment for any hold ups or cancellations. We will contact you if running late or early
– Allow approximately an hour for checking existing saddle

  1. Purchasing Products

2.1 Saddle Orders & Delivery

The saddle style, size, and design will be confirmed during your fitting.
If a suitable stock saddle is not available, or you select a bespoke design, your order will be based on the measurements taken at the appointment.

A 50% deposit is required at the time of order, with the balance due upon delivery. Saddles cannot be released until full payment has been received.

Delivery times vary depending on manufacturer and seasonal demand, typically 4-8 weeks. While we always endeavour to meet estimated timeframes, we cannot be held responsible for manufacturer or courier delays beyond our control.

If you wish to amend your order, please contact us as soon as possible. We will confirm:

  • Whether changes are possible,
  • Any resulting adjustments to cost or delivery, and
  • Whether you wish to proceed with the amendment.

2.2 Product Adjustments

We reserve the right to make minor modifications to products in order to:

  • Comply with updated laws or regulations, or
  • Implement technical or design improvements.

Such changes will not materially affect product use or quality.

2.3 None saddle products

We endeavour to supply our clients with supporting products that will enhance their riding experience. Our fitters carry a variety of options, however we can order in additional stock should this be required.  Should you wish to purchase any items full payment will be required for both stock items and preorder.

  1. Pricing & Payment

3.1 Pricing

All prices are quoted in pounds sterling (£).
You will always be advised of costs before booking or purchasing.
Any applicable delivery charges will be confirmed at the point of sale.

3.2 Payment Methods

We accept:

  • Major debit/credit cards,
  • Bank transfer

Payment must be made in full before delivery unless otherwise agreed in writing.

3.3 Repairs & Adjustments

We will provide a written quotation for all repair or adjustment work.
All items must be clean and free from hair, grease, or dirt before being sent to us.

A £30 cleaning fee (including VAT) will be applied to items returned in an unclean condition.
We cannot accept saddles contaminated with mould due to the risk of cross-contamination.

  1. Cancellations & Refunds

4.1 Standard Saddles

You have a 14-day cooling-off period from the date of order to cancel your purchase.
After receiving your saddle, you have 14 days to return it in unused, as-new condition for a full refund.

You are responsible for the cost and insurance of return postage.
We maintain a photographic record of each saddle’s condition at the point of sale. Saddles returned with wear, marks, or damage will be subject to a partial refund reflecting their resale value.

4.2 Bespoke Saddles

You may cancel a bespoke order within 14 days of placing it. After this period, you remain liable for the full purchase price.

“Bespoke” refers to any saddle made outside our standard black or brown models, or those featuring additional modifications. A wither template will be taken at the time of order to ensure accuracy of fit.

If your horse changes shape before delivery, you remain responsible for the purchase price; however, we will work with you to address any necessary fit adjustments.

4.3 Refund Conditions

During any trial or inspection period:

  • Do not ride in rain without a cover,
  • Only roller-buckle girths should be used, and
  • Wellington or rubber boots should not be worn while riding.

A full refund will only be issued if the saddle is returned in unused, saleable condition (allowing for reasonable test use).
Customers are responsible for return postage unless the product is found to be faulty. Proof of postage must be provided.
If goods are found faulty, reasonable postage costs will be reimbursed upon receipt of proof.
Items returned in a soiled condition may incur a cleaning fee prior to refund or exchange.

4.4 Appointment Cancellations

We understand that circumstances can change. Should you need to cancel your appointment, we will always do our best to accommodate you.
However, cancellations made within 24 hours of your scheduled visit day will incur the full fitting visit fee, to cover the reserved time and travel commitment of your fitter.

  1. Warranty

S&D Saddles guarantees the materials and craftsmanship of all saddles for two years from the purchase date, under normal conditions of use.

This warranty does not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear,
  • Damage caused by accident, misuse, or neglect,
  • Changes in horse or rider conformation, or
  • Use of unsuitable maintenance products.

The warranty becomes void if the saddle is altered, repaired, or adjusted by anyone other than an authorised S&D Saddles fitter.

  1. Liability

S&D Saddles and its associated fitters shall not be liable for:

  • Injury, loss, or damage arising from improper use or post-fitting adjustments made after customer approval, or
  • Any consequential or indirect loss related to our products or services.

Where complimentary or promotional items are supplied with a saddle purchase, these must be returned in good condition if the saddle is refunded within 14 days. The cost of unreturned or damaged items will be deducted from the refund amount.

We always act in good faith and aim to resolve any concerns promptly, fairly, and professionally.
